Yesterday the New York Times reported that this house in Phoenix, Arizona, designed in 1952 by Frank Lloyd Wright for his son David, was scheduled to be demolished today by a developer: "Frank Lloyd Wright House in Phoenix Faces Bulldozers."
Fortunately, the Associated Press is reporting today that the house has gotten a stay of execution: "Demolition on Hold for Wright House in Phoenix."
For Wright lovers, this is a true gem. And, as reporter Michael Kimelman (?) points out, the similarities to the Guggenheim museum are pretty apparent. The Times had a bunch of pictures online that show why Wright is so important.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't Eric G buy it and move it to lower Union Street?
