Rumor has it that our current mayor packed his personal belongings into two boxes and left City Hall, never to return, two days after it was confirmed that he had lost the election. Since that day, we haven't heard much from the mayor-elect either, but Gossips has just learned that Tiffany Martin Hamilton will be the guest this morning of Justin Weaver and Holly Tanner on Something to Talk About on WGXC. The show airs at 10 a.m. at 90.7 FM or online at wgxc.org.

So devoted to being our Mayor that he couldn't even finish out his term ?
ReplyDeleteHow telling.
Thanks for the heads up - WGXC is turned ON.
I saw him at city hall today 12/9/15 dressed in a suit.

Carole you sicken me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe rule I established when I decided to allow people to choose "Anonymous" as a profile was that, if you opt for "Anonymous," you must sign your comment. No totally anonymous comments would be published. I decided, however, to publish the above comment, lest my critics accuse me of censoring unfavorable sentiments.
DeleteI see no name attached to this Anonymous or the others that choose to hide behind a mask for the rest of us to wonder about.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Gossips needs to take up the mayor elects promise for transparency too .
While there may be some bad blood between Mayor Hallenbeck and Mayor elect Hamilton, it's disappointing that there is no communication between them. One would have hoped that they would have reached out to each other, to facilitate the transition, and for Mayor Hallenbeck to alert Tiffany Hamilton of whatever issues require immediate attention, or present sand traps in his view, and to just share his experiences. Despite all the noise and fury, most of us share the same goals for the city about how to make it a better place, even if we may disagree about methods. It is more a matter of hard work than anything else really. We are such a small city, with such complex problems, that effective governance here is a particular challenge.
ReplyDeleteI saw her on Warren Street the other day and smiled and addressed her as Mayor.
ReplyDeleteShe seemed a tiny bit startled and gave me a faint smile. She had no idea as far as I could see who I was. Hudson ain't that big folks!!!
As for Mayor H. -- I actually only encountered him happenstance three times in the last five years (while he was running and while he was in office).
Again, Hudson ain't that big folks.
Why are these elected officials virtually invisible?
Ms. Hamilton, though elected, is not yet mayor. Until then, it is incorrect to address her as "Mayor," and also unfair to expect that she knows who you are yet.
DeleteWhy are you so invisible "Observer," when this is such a small place?
I have my own reasons, but in that case I can't - and I don't - criticize others for having low profiles.
Let people first take their seats before you begin gnawing. Everyone who just got elected, without exception, deserves a chance.
Points taken.
DeleteI must say as I have never been introduced to her nor met her, that it would be odd if I addressed by her first or last name. Hence "mayor" which also alerted my visiting companion at that moment as to who this lady was.
She doesn't bite. Next time introduce yourself. Its all about community and being a part of it. Unusual, I know, but refreshing none the less.
