Mark your calendars!
On Wednesday, April 10, Alexandra Church, the city planner for Newburgh, will be in Hudson to talk about form-based code and SmartCode. In September 2015, Newburgh adopted form-based code for four districts in the city: the Broadway Corridor, the Downtown Neighborhood, the Waterfront Gateway, and Planned Waterfront Districts. The goal in adopting form-based code was "to promote a more urban, walkable, and vibrant downtown."
On April 10, Church will discuss the effects form-based code has had on some of Newburgh's most intractable problems--parking, affordable housing, etc. The event takes place at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Hudson Area Library.
Church's visit to Hudson was arranged by Walter Chatham, chair of the Planning Board, and Phil Forman, chair of the Historic Preservation Commission.
