The First Presbyterian Church, whose iconic spire appears in many images of Hudson's main street, both vintage and modern, and in whose tower the city clock resides, made this announcement today on Facebook:
After years of hard work, repair and replacement of the church's 100+ year old standing seam metal roof began this Monday. The church along with the Friends of First Presbyterian are immensely grateful to the Albany Presbytery Trustees for an unprecedented gift of $100,000 to help complete this project. Many thanks are also due to the Friends' diligent faithfulness and many church members who have both contributed financially to the fundraising efforts and also given their time in repairing and maintaining the existing structure. It will be a joyous day when we don't have to pour out buckets of water from the attic any longer! . . .
