Holocaust Remembrance Day, Yom Hashoah in Hebrew, begins at sundown on Sunday, April 7. The date of the observance marks the anniversary of the Warsaw ghetto uprising. On this day, a very special theatrical event will take place at the Hudson Opera House.
My Anne is Anne Frank's story brought to life in a "sensitive, lively, and inspiring solo performance." Anne Frank, of course, was the Jewish girl who lived in hiding with her family for two years in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam during World War II and kept a diary during that time. My Anne, which is taken from those diary entries, is adapted and performed by Sarah Shaeffer and developed and directed by Carol Rusoff.
A reception follows the premiere performance, which begins at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 7. There will be a second performance on Friday, April 12, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance or $7 at the door.
The photograph of Sarah Shaeffer is by Dan Region.
