Sunday, Snowy Sunday

When it comes to parking a car on a narrow, snow-clogged street, I've always believed there is safety in numbers. If there are many cars parked on one side of the street and only one parked on the other, it seems there's a greater likelihood that the lone car will be hit by someone trying unsuccessfully to navigate the slippery and congested street. Operating on this logic in past snow emergencies, however, I have gotten one "snow emergency" parking ticket ($25, if memory serves) and once narrowly missed having my car towed.

So this morning, at 8 a.m., I dutifully dug my little car out of the snowbank and parked it on the even side of the street, where it stood by itself, looking very small and vulnerable, for an hour and a half before it was joined by a neighbor's (bigger) car.
