For everyone accustomed to the Planning Board meeting on Wednesday night, this may be a bit of a surprise: the Planning Board meets tonight at 6 p.m. The following items are on the agenda: 41 Cross Street, where a hotel is being proposed; 78 Green Street, where last year a building was constructed on a site different from what had been approved in the site plan review; and Academy Hill, which may or may not have to do with Mt. Ray Estates.
Although at the beginning of December, Gossips reported there would be four vacancies on the Planning Board for the new mayor to fill, there is now only one. At the eleventh hour, former mayor William Hallenbeck not only reappointed Carmine Pierro, whose term ended on December 31, 2015, but also appointed his aide, Gene Shetsky, to the Planning Board. The new mayor Tiffany Martin Hamilton reportedly reappointed Laura Margolis, which leaves just one vacancy to be filled. It will be interesting to see if there is a new face on the Planning Board tonight.
