Daytime Drama on the Icy Hudson

Yesterday, five barges heading south on the Hudson River got stuck in the ice near the Roe-Jan Creek Boat Club.
This morning, the Coast Guard cutter Sturgeon Bay arrived to free them.

    On Sunday, old-timers at the city waterfront were saying they'd never seen the likes before.

    In today's photo, the southernmost barges appear to be the same three briefly halted at Hudson on Sunday.
