On Tuesday, Hudson made the evening news again--this time on CBS Channel 6. The story featured Chief Ed Moore of the Hudson Police Department, warning of the dangers of walking on the frozen Hudson River: "Stay off the ice!"
It would have been an interesting early twentieth century encounter, had John Halloran met with Mr. Moore, on his way over to Athens to meet with grandma Florence.
The Hudson had less fences then, people were "Moorefree" and police authority over citizens Navigating, ended at ice's edge. Also, back then, civil servants promoted the free use of land beneath Navigable water, just like at Underhill and Oakdale.
