Mrs. Greenthumbs Day Returns

Two years ago, Mrs. Greenthumbs Day, honoring the memory of Cassandra Danz, Hudson's most talented, most exuberant, and most famous gardener, was a huge success. After taking a year off, the planners of the event have decided to bring it back again this summer, and Sunday, July 17, has been chosen as the day for this celebration of gardening in Hudson.

Mrs. Greenthumbs Day is observed with the most democratic of garden tours. People with gardens they love, work hard at, and are proud of open their gardens to fellow gardeners, gardener wannabes, and garden appreciators. It offers a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to view gardens that are hidden behind buildings and fences and to get inside gardens that can only be tantalizingly glimpsed from the street.

The gardeners of Hudson are invited to volunteer their gardens for this very special open garden day. If you want to be a part of it, just send an email to Gossips to let us know. We'll put your garden on the map and, on the morning of the tour, deliver balloons to mark the entrance to your garden.

Mrs. Greenthumbs Day is free, but, as in the past, there will be the opportunity at each garden to make a contribution to the Mrs. Greenthumbs Hedge Fund. This spring, the Hedge Fund is covering the fee for the landscape architect who is designing the means for universal access to Promenade Hill. Everyone who participated in Mrs. Greenthumbs Day in 2014 helped make this happen.
