Over the River . . . by Another Means

Hudson Valley Initiative, a project of the Graduate School of Architecture, Preservation, and Planning at Columbia University, best known to Hudsonians for facilitating the eight-part vision for future improvements to Oakdale Lake, is currently working on recommendations for Climate Action in the Hudson Valley. One idea they are exploring is the potential for fossil-free ferry transportation to connect cities and towns on both sides of the river and reduce vehicles emissions.

In pursuit of this idea, HVI is conducting an online survey of Hudson Valley residents to learn about cross-river travel habits and gauge the potential interest and demand for such a ferry. You can access the survey by clicking here

Thanks to Debby Mayer for bringing this to our attention

  1. I just got back from CA and they are using "Duffy Boats" that are 100% electrical. No emissions, totally quiet. They charge overnight and can run all day with that one charge
