Tomorrow, Friday, February 12, is the last day for registered voters to change their party affiliation.
This has particular significance for voters in Hudson because, since the city is heavily Democratic, elections are often decided in the primary election, which takes place in June, and not in the general election in November. This year, all local elected officials--mayor, treasurer, Council president, aldermen, supervisors--are up for reelection. The primary election takes place on June 22, and in order to vote in the Democratic primary, a voter must be registered as a Democrat.
To change your registration, you must go in person to the Columbia County Board of Elections at 401 State Street before 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, February 12. For more information, call the Board of Elections at 518 828-3115. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. To check your voter registation status and your party enrollment, if any, go to voterlookup.elections.ny.gov.
