The plans for the hotel have mostly to do with the back of the building, but one alteration is being proposed for the Warren Street facade: a change to the door surround at the entrance to the house. This will require a certificate of appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Commission.

That explains why on earth someone would cut down all the old beautiful trees separating 304 from 302.( Yes I know trees are not protected ) Due to it's high visibility now of a Historic Building, at a light on 23/B 9/G at the North Gateway to Hudson's Commercial Historic District on Warren, this will also have to come before HPC for c/a.304's back porch is stunning, though it seems so suddenly vulnerable.
ReplyDelete.I heard that some sort of Spa/hotel was planned, but not "building a conservatory behind the house, which will connect the house with the carriage house where the gym and the "event space" will be located. Parking for the hotel.. .I wish these people no ill will, but these are Historic Bldgs.and they also own the old Methodist Episcopal Parish and Carriage house, across Prison Alley on N 3rd. which is not protected at all
,.Between losing those old trees and one of the very few pluses( where there are many problems.) of where I live... an untouched early 19th cent Hudson cityscape, with no parked cars.Since no cars can park or stop EVER ,due to it's too narrow for the trucks.... I am saddened Very late at night and early dawn I see and hear no trucks,or any parked cars and for brief times it is magic, just this cityscape. I am grateful now, I photographed this view ,in all seasons extensively over these many years.
