I like to think that all Gossips readers are registered and active voters, but should that not be the case, here's an important reminder. Next Friday, August 18, is the last day to register in order to vote in the primary on September 12. Many important local races—Common Council president, First Ward alderman, Second Ward alderman, Third Ward supervisor, Fourth Ward alderman and supervisor—will be as good as decided in the primary, so don't miss out. Get yourself registered before next Friday.
Peter Frank will be at the Hudson Farmers' Market tomorrow morning with registration forms. Registration forms will also be available at the pink Trixie's Oven cookie table. If you are not planning to be at the farmers' market, you can complete a registration form online, print it out, and deliver it to the Board of Elections, 401 State Street, before 4 p.m. on Friday, August 18, or you can go to the Board of Elections any day next week, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., to register in person.

The primaries in Hudson are Democratic and Independence, and while there are several Democratic primaries in the various wards, as Carole has outlined, there are only two Independence Party primaries. So if you were hoping to vote in one of these primaries, and you’re not already registered to vote anywhere in Columbia County, you will need to enroll in either of these parties to do so.
ReplyDeleteIf you’re registered elsewhere in the county but have moved into Hudson, please fill out a registration form to change your address to Hudson as soon as possible, and if you are already enrolled in either of those two parties, you will be eligible to vote in the primary. If not, it’s just good to get your registration address corrected.
