The Prevailing Vision for Columbia County: More Gas, More Food to Go

Gossips used this title back in October when reporting that the Livingston Town Planning Board had given its approval to the Global Partners plan to build a giant gas station and convenience store at the intersection of Routes 9, 9H, 23, and 82. It seems appropriate to use it again when reporting that the Copake Town Planning Board has approved another mega gas station on Route 23 in Craryville. The story of the most recent approval can be read at HudsonValley360: "Copake board approves long contested gas station site plan."

  1. the Car Culture has enveloped the USA post WWII.

as much as we all talk about alternatives, no one is getting out of their vehicles and there are no other options.

America is all about the Car, but thank God Hudson is a model for a city that can be different. It is rare to have -- so lets all be grateful it has come this far. and that you can live in town and not have one if you choose not to.
