The Columbia County Department of Health has released its numbers for today. Although, optimism abounds that we are reaching the end this health crisis, the news from the CCDOH continues to be quite grim. Since yesterday, there were eight new cases of COVID-19 and another death, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus in Columbia County to 88. The number of active cases being reported today is fourteen fewer than yesterday, from which it can be inferred that 21 more county residents are now considered to be recovering. There are fifteen fewer county residents in mandatory quarantine today than yesterday, but the number hospitalized with the virus remains the same, and there are two more in the ICU.
The New York Forward dashboard is reporting a positivity rate for Columbia County yesterday of 0.6 percent and a seven-day average of 1.9 percent. By comparison, the positivity rate for the Capital Region is 1.3 percent and the seven-day average is 1.9 percent.
