COVID-19 Update

The Columbia County Department of Health has released its numbers for today. Since yesterday, there have been two new cases of COVID-19 and two recoveries, leaving the number of active cases in the county unchanged, at 11. The number of county residents in mandatory and precautionary quarantine remains the same, as does the number of people hospitalized with COVID-19. There have been no new deaths.
As of 1:00 p.m. on August 9, 2020:
  • Columbia County has had 37 residents that have passed away from COVID-19.
  • Columbia County has 514 confirmed positive cases.
  • There are 11 active cases of COVID-19 in Columbia County. We are monitoring 99 county residents on mandatory quarantine, and there are 22 on precautionary quarantine.
  • 466 of the 514 cases have recovered from COVID-19 
  • 3 of the positive cases are hospitalized, none of those hospitalized are in the ICU
  • We have received 20,007 PCR reports. Please note this number may represent duplicate reports, out of county reports, and multiple nursing home testings.

  1. On June 9th Gossips reported that Columbia County's "37th resident that has passed away from COVID-19."

    Zero deaths in two months is newsworthy.

  2. I can't claim to follow this closely, but it seems the key metric here--vis a vis openings and re=openings--is infection rate per 100,000. (see Arrive https://nyti.ms/2C93aPd ) Does anyone know the Columbia County or Hudson rate?
