Also Tonight

In the account of meetings happening this week, it was mentioned that at tonight's Common Council meeting there is to be a presentation by a developer interested in adapting the former John L. Edwards School for affordable housing. What wasn't mentioned was a proposal to be presented by Dorothy Heyl, wife of Council president Tom DePietro, for a public-private partnership to renovate and restore the Public Square, a.k.a Seventh Street Park. That story was reported in the Register-Star yesterday: "Group to propose 7th Street Park plan." In this project, Heyl is collaborating with landscape architect Dale Schafer and architect and New Urbanist Walter Chatham. It would seem the goal of the group is to eliminate some of the clutter in the park and restore it to its former glory.

Also tonight, while most of us are focused on Common Council meetings, the Board of Education of the Hudson City School District is having its final "Community Budget Workshop" from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. As was the case on March 2, this will be an in-person meeting to take place in Room 22C, across from the library at Hudson High School. The final draft of the budget is to be presented on April 6.
