Travel & Leisure has a list of "America's Best Spring Drives." Of the two dozen featured, Route 9 between Poughkeepsie and Valatie is twenty-second on the list. Unfortunately, there's no mention of Hudson as a place to stop along the way, but tourists following Route 9 with no variation will probably figure that out. Of course, following Route 9 also takes them along Greenport's fast food/strip mall corridor, similarly not mentioned as an attraction along the way.
