This engraving shows the first Labor Day observance in 1882 at Union Square in New York. The unrealistically enormous flags flying from the tops of buildings are reminiscent of this photograph of Warren Street, showing similarly large flags flying from the rooftops, raising the question, once again, of whether this image of Warren Street might have been doctored.
There is no change in the scale of the flag poles as the perspective diminishes .
