The Register-Star has two op-ed pieces of interest today. The first is an editorial about the proposed Significant Coastal Fish and Wildlife Habitat designations along the Hudson River: "OUR VIEW: Habitat designations involve sensitive areas." The arguments in the piece are a little evasive, but there seems to be some obliquely stated concern that the designations could interfere with economic development.
The second piece was written by South Bay Task Force member Timothy O'Connor: "MY VIEW: Hudson LWRP's sneaky creation." O'Connor focuses scrutiny on the Generic Environmental Impact Statement (GEIS) and questions the process by which the document was developed.
