There was a buzz of questions around town when the American Glory trailer took up residence on the vacant lot at the corner of Fifth and Warren streets, a lot owned by Eric Galloway. Among other things, people were curious about the rationale for siting this satellite venue only a block and a half away from the restaurant itself.
This weekend, the trailer went AWOL, leaving behind--on a prominent corner--this unsightly and unsavory display for Hudsonians and weekend visitors to enjoy: a cooking stove beside a port-a-potty, with picnic tables ranged around.
I noticed the AG trailer was gone on Friday morning I believe and thought maybe Joe had given up. But I was wrong. Spoke to Bob Lucke who informed me that this was taking place over the weekend in Windham, and Joe moved the trailer to this event: The 2011 Windham Mountain Bike World Cup on July 9 and 10 in Windham, N.Y. So I would expect the trailer's return any moment now!
ReplyDeleteWould you really expect otherwise from Joe? Obviously he doesn't care what the corner looks like. We're lucky there weren't any bags of garbage left in the open. But then he would have needed some business to have garbage, and that didn't look like it happened too often.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think it's entirely appropriate. It is 'the glory hole' afterall.
ReplyDeleteI hear a third franchise of American Glory is opening up on 7th Street Park -- how exciting!
ReplyDeleteMaybe American Glory should also buy a fleet of Segways to deliver barbecue to pedestrians no matter where they are in town. These could also intercept anyone heading toward any other local restaurant to double-check that they don't want barbecue instead.
