This morning, Gossips witnessed gravel trucks driving on the old rail bed through South Bay. This afternoon, at about 4:30, Gossips saw a gravel truck heading south on Front Street and another heading north and managed to snap a picture of one of the trucks just after it had crossed the railroad tracks and made a left turn onto Front Street.
Are they using both routes--the one through the city and the one through South Bay? Or did someone tell O&G/Holcim that, although they paved the old rail bed, they don't have the permits required to use it?
For what it's worth, a Hudson police car was stationed near the north end of the new, unpermitted truck route through the wetlands this morning when I passed by. Whether it was monitoring/preventing truck traffic, or just making a routine observation of the area, I can't say. I did not see any trucks during my drive-by, either on the "causeway" or on Front Street.
