The New York State Department of State Division of Coastal Resources held an informational meeting last night in Catskill about new areas for designation as Significant Coastal Fish and Wildlife Habitats. South Bay is one such area, and today's Register-Star has a report on that meeting, which contains quotes from several advocates for South Bay--Timothy O'Connor, Christopher Reed, and Peter Jung--as well as Eileen Halloran.
The Department of State and the Department of Environmental Conservation will hold at joint public hearing on the proposed designations on Wednesday, July 27, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Norrie Point Environmental Center in Staatsburg.
