The Columbia County Department of Health has released its numbers for today. Since yesterday, there have been eighteen new cases of COVID-19 and eighteen recoveries, so the number of active cases remains the same at 86. The number of county residents hospitalized with the virus also remains the same, and none of those hospitalized is in the ICU. So far, in the month of December, there has not been a death from COVID-19 in Columbia County.
With eighteen positives out of 451 test results received, the positive percentage rate for today is 4 percent. The seven day rolling average, according to Gossips' calculations, is 2.6 percent--that is, 82 positives out of 3,125 test results.
The numbers from the CCDOH show that Columbia County is doing a bit better than the rest of the state. In his COVID briefing this morning, Governor Andrew Cuomo shared the following statewide percentage rates from yesterday: 4.86 percent statewide without the micro-clusters; 5.44 percent statewide with the micro-clusters; 7.08 percent for the micro-clusters.
