I have viewed this photo many times over the past few years since it was first posted on the Gibson site and I am convinced that is my mother in the tan coat just to the front right of the tree in the background. Having been 5 years old at the time and living a block away on 8th Street I am certain that I would have been there. There was always a Santa in the toy department on the lower level of J.J. Newberry's. Events of this type always drew large crowds . GREAT times in the City of Hudson.

ReplyDeleteThat website is AMAZING. I wonder if anyone in that photo still lives in Hudson.
ReplyDeleteYes I recognize a few of the kids in the photo that live in or near Hudson today.
DeleteOMG I'm watching “It’s A Wonderful Life” tonight on NBC. This beautiful old photo takes me back to times like that. We live in a town full of ghosts.
ReplyDeleteSo does most of America. The Malls and Big Boxes killed it. (nevermind the politicians.
DeleteTrue. True. But Hudson goes back 400 years.
