More News of Returning to Normalcy

Gossips just learned that the Historic Preservation Commission meeting, to take place tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., will happen not on Zoom but in person at City Hall. Those of us who plan to attend the meeting will have to get appropriately dressed and hie ourselves to 520 Warren Street. It's been more than a year since Gossips has entered there.

  1. Months ago at a CC meeting, I asked if the Council was making preparations to continue with a videoconferencing option when the pandemic was done and we could return to live meetings. Remote access gives citizens the option to engage in civic discourse and increases access for those who might not otherwise be able to participate. Other municipalities are doing it, and it seems like a no-brainer.

As no-brainers often go, Tom DePietro stared blankly then said there were no such plans being made.

On the plus side, at least the CC president won't be able to mute public participants or 'accidentally' drop Common Council members with questions from the live meetings.
