In June, Basilica Hudson conducted a fundraising campaign to plant trees and make improvements to its cinema space. Now, in the autumn planting season, the trees are going in along the Basilica's perimeter--nine 25-foot maples and one honorary dogwood.
The trees being planted are the first phase of a long-term plan to bring trees, shade, and natural beauty to the Basilica site. The plan was developed with the help of landscape designer Wenonah Webster and Pondside Nursery and was inspired by Christabel Gough, who offered to buy the Basilica its first tree.
On Saturday, October 12, at 4 p.m., tree lovers and supporters are invited to a tree planting ceremony, at which time the final tree in this phase will be planted. Come prepared to lend a hand. Shovels and dirt will be provided. Click here for more information about the project and the event.
