Organic Goods Arriving on Our Shores
Back in April, Gossips posted about the Vermont Sail Freight Project, the new farmer-owned, cooperative regional food distributor based on Lake Champlain that transports its goods, under sail, to Albany, the Hudson Valley, and New York City. Well, on Monday, October 14--Columbus Day--the Vermont Sail Freight Project will be arriving in Hudson aboard their sailing barge, Ceres, bringing with them organic consumables from Vermont and the Adirondacks.
The Hudson Sloop Club will be at Rick's Point on Monday to welcome them, with a barbecue and potluck. From 3 to 6 p.m., there will be food, music, and a market where you can buy maple and birch syrup, honey, potatoes, garlic, apples, fresh-milled flour and cornmeal, heirloom beans, handmade soap--more than a hundred special products from more than thirty-five different family producers.
