Following Up: 22-24 Warren Street

Last week, prompted by a photograph of the rear of 24 Warren Street provided by a reader, Gossips published a post that wondered if the restoration of this house might not have been put off a bit too long: "Is Time Running Out?"

This morning, my route to the dog park took me past the house (the inch or so of snow on the ground made me want to avoid the steep hill on North Second Street), and I noticed the ubiquitous Galvan sign on the building's facade, announcing that it was a "Work in Progress."

I confess to having no idea how long the sign has been there.

  1. This is great news indeed. The building on 5th and Union, which I have been looking at for 11 years, was also given a sign. If it only takes 11 years to put up a sign, can "work in progress" be far behind? Then again, I would want to know the nature of the development plan first.

    1. The plan for 501 Union was presented to the Historic Preservation Commission in October: https://gossipsofrivertown.blogspot.com/2020/10/news-from-this-mornings-hpc-meeting.html.

    2. Thanks. I missed this. Did they say how many apartments? how many studios?
I attended a meeting lo these 5 years ago or more where they presented a proposal for all small studios with no parking. When asked about it and the fact that there is not enough parking in the immediate vicinity as it is, the response was that the people we will be renting to won't have cars so it's not a problem. That proposal -- which was in the early stages I believe, died away

  2. What a relief it is that they put up a sign. Now we can stop worrying about the direction of our community. I think we all know when someone from Galvan says something, they stand behind their word.

  3. What is the most up to date data on Hudson’s real estate czar, aka Galvan associates? Properties owned, properties in state of renovation, aka WIP and properties with renovation completed and now occupied or available for occupation. Also a list of properties for sale and/or new construction sites proposed. Hey while your at it please list taxes paid per property. This is quite a request by me, mr. lazy let someone else do it. And maybe provide the process as to how one would find the answers to the above questions. And more important is to say thank you for your ongoing reporting to the citizens of Hudson. You receive my vote for Hudson’s Citizen of the Year. Oh, and Happy New Year to you as we enter into the New Age of Aquarius. Peace and love to all.
