This afternoon, Derick LaTorre, chair of the Board of Directors of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, sent a message to the organization's members. The main paragraph of the message read as follows:
On November 10, 2020, the Executive Committee of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce voted to terminate the employment of Jeffrey Hunt as President & CEO effective immediately. This termination was done in light of financial irregularities of which the Executive Board was just made aware. Thereafter, on November 12, 2020, the Board of Directors met and unanimously supported the actions of the Executive Committee. Due to the nature of the termination, most information related to it is confidential and under ongoing investigation. As soon as more information becomes available to share, further updates will be provided to the full membership.
According to his profile on LinkedIn, Hunt has held his position with the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce since July 2016. His responsibilities are described there in this way:
Full Profit and Loss responsibility and day to day management. Report directly the Board of Directors. Business attraction, retention and membership recruitment.
