Author and Hudson resident Seth Rogovoy, who has been called "American Jewry's greatest Dylan scholar," is giving two virtual multimedia lectures this month: one on Bob Dylan, the other on Leonard Cohen. The lectures are part of the adult education program of Beth Emet: The Free Synagogue in Evanston, Illinois, but anyone can view them.
The first lecture, "Bob Dylan: Prophet Mystic Poet," takes place this Thursday, November 12, at 8:00 p.m. It is an exploration of the deep and profound influence Dylan's Jewish background and scriptural roots on the rock poet's life and work.
The second lecture, "Leonard Cohen's Mystical Midrash," explores how the Cohen's familiarity with Torah, Talmud, and Kabbalah worked its way into his songs and public utterances.
