The Columbia County Department of Health has released its numbers for today. Since yesterday, there have been eighteen new cases of COVID-19 and ten recoveries, increasing the number of active cases by eight to 117. The number of people hospitalized with the virus and in the ICU remains the same as yesterday. In a footnote, the CCDOH explains that the quarantine numbers reported are now and going forward only those county residents whose quarantine is being monitored at the CCDOH, and there may be others being monitored by the CommCare NYS Contact Tracing System. Somehow that doesn't seem helpful. The good news is there has not been another death from COVID-19 in Columbia County for a week and a day.
With eighteen positives out of 478 test results received, the positive percentage rate for today is 3.8 percent. The seven day rolling average, according to Gossips' calculations, is 2.7 percent--that is, 81 positives out of 3,031 test results.
Tomorrow, the CCDOH releases its weekly breakdown of cases by municipality and nursing homes.
