COVID-19 Update

The Columbia County Department of Health has released its numbers for today. Since yesterday, there have been nine new cases of COVID-19 and seven recoveries, increasing the number of active cases by two to 98. The number of people in the hospital and in the ICU with the virus remains the same as yesterday. There are 36 fewer county residents in mandatory quarantine today than yesterday, but the number in precautionary quarantine remains the same. There has not been another death from COVID-19 in Columbia County since yesterday.

With nine positives out of 434 test results received, the positive percentage rate for today is 2.0 percent. The seven day rolling average, according to Gossips' calculations, is 1.3 percent--that is, 51 positives out of 4,105 test results.

Tomorrow, the CCDOH publishes its breakdown of COVID cases by municipality and nursing home, and we will have a better sense of where the increase in infections is occurring.

  1. I was at the Hospital for a Doctor visit and at 3:30pm Thursday there was a Rainbow Alert as a COVID patient was leaving Hospital to go home - great moment!
