Another Galvan Property for Sale

Last Wednesday, Gossips reported that Eric Galloway's mansion at 345 Allen Street was for sale. Today, a reader tipped me off to the fact 356 Union Street is now also for sale, with an asking price of $1,250,000.

The renovation of the building was recently completed, and the description of the property on MLS (Multiple Listing Service) reads as follows:
A stately 8,000 SF, 3 story, 5-unit apartment building is beautifully sited on Union Street just steps from Washington Park & amongst some of Hudson NY's most important Historic homes. Built circa 1900 this building has been completely restored & renovated. The entire building features all new electrical, plumbing, heating & air conditioning & sprinkler systems with all new windows throughout. There are 4 light filled 1 bedroom, 2 bath apartments each with the newest energy efficient appliances, washer/dryer & their own AC & heating units. On the top floor beneath the brand new blue stone mansard roof is a vast loft-like apartment with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths & windows on 4 sides. Included in the sale on Cherry Alley is a free standing approx. 2,500 SF building that could be repurposed into 2 addition rental units, a single family home or a commercial rental. All 5 of the Union St. units are move-in ready & will provide immediate rental income. A smart investment to add to your portfolio.
Gossips has to take issue with the statement that the building was built "circa 1900." Gossips' research discovered that 356 Union Street was once the home of one of Hudson's most celebrated personages: Dr. Lyle H. Smith. Smith lived there from 1873 until 1900, when he sold the house to Delbert Dinehart, who in 1910 built the now dramatically transformed Dinehart Mansion at 886 Columbia Street.

  4. The Dinehart Mansion is the most devastatingly ugly renovation of a property in Hudson. (Not Galvan)
Too bad that beautiful house was not in the Historic District.
