Another Emergency Order
At the end of the day today, Mayor Kamal Johnson issued Local State of Emergency Order No. 7, effective from 6 p.m. today through through Friday, April 10, at 12 noon. Most of the order reiterates what was contained in the previous six state of emergency orders, but the following seems to be new:
In addition to the Orders set forth above, the Governor of the State of New York has issued several Executive Orders as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic which can be viewed here. https://www.governor.ny.gov/executiveorders Of particular concern to the people of Hudson please note.
I. Per the Governor's Executive Order https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/no-2023-continuing-temporary-suspension-and-modification-laws-relating-disaster-emergency events and other gatherings have been severely limited. Accordingly, no large public gatherings of more than 50 people may be held as per the Governor's order, as such conditions threaten or imperil the public safety of the citizens of Hudson. This requirement also applies to houses of worship.
II. Per the Governor's Executive Order https://www.governor.ny.gov/news/no-2023-continuing-temporary-suspension-and-modification-laws-relating-disaster-emergency any restaurant or bar in the state of New York shall cease serving patrons food or beverage on-premises effective on March 16, 2020, and until further notice shall only serve food or beverage for off-premises consumption.
It's possible to think of a couple of incidents that may have inspired this order, but the time period seems odd. It expires on Friday at noon--before the weekend and before Easter Sunday.
