In addition to news of the staggering human tragedy that 731 people in New York died yesterday from the coronavirus, bringing the state's total death toll to 5,489, there was hopeful news in Governor Andrew Cuomo's COVID-19 briefing today. The three-day hospitalization rate is down.
Cuomo also reported that the New York State Department of Health has developed an antibody testing procedure and is working with the FDA to get it approved. The test would identify the people who have had the virus and recovered and are no longer able to catch the virus or to give to others. This is hopeful news because those people who have developed an immunity to the virus can go back into the world and help return things to normal.
If you missed today's briefing, it can be viewed on YouTube here. The briefing begins at 9:57.
