Looking Ahead

Despite the pandemic, the Hudson Farmers Market has found a way to stay open and operating in a manner that safeguards everyone's health. Now, midway into November, it's the time of year when locavores start wondering about where they will get their food during the bleak winter months ahead. Not to worry. The Hudson Farmers Market will not desert you. Here's what to expect going forward.

Next Saturday, November 21, is the last outdoor market of the year at the two locations on Columbia Street. The following Saturday, which is Thanksgiving Day weekend, the market takes a break. But the next Saturday, December 5, the Hudson Winter Farmers Market will open at a new location: the Elks Lodge on Harry Howard Avenue.

The winter market will have about twenty vendors--most inside but a few outside--along with a rotating selection of guest vendors. As in the past, the winter market will be open for three Saturdays in December--December 5, 12, and 19. Then it will a winter break for Christmas weekend and the month of January, but it will open again on February 6 and remain open every Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., until April.

There's some continuity here. The winter market's former location, 601 Union Street was the Hudson Elks Lodge from 1936 until 2002.

  1. The only negative, of course, is that many people will have to drive.

  2. yeah, really unfortunate and inconvenient location, on Hudson's outskirts. I wonder if they looked around enough downtown for a better spot.

  3. I think the issue was that they needed a big enough space for social distancing
