The Columbia County Department of Health has released its numbers for today. Since yesterday, there has been another death from COVID-19 and three more positive cases. Three more people have recovered, and the number of people hospitalized with the virus has been reduced by three. In the past day, the results from 54 more tests have been received.
As of 2 p.m. on May 9, 2020:
  • We are sad to report a 19th Columbia County Resident has passed away from COVID-19
  • 320 positive cases of COVID-19
  • 125 of the 320 cases have recovered from COVID-19
  • 7 of the positive cases are hospitalized, 2 of those hospitalized are in the ICU
  • We have received 2,083 test results completed for Columbia County residents
  • 184 residents are under mandatory quarantine and 14 under precautionary quarantine
Here's what the pattern of new positive cases looks like over the past five weeks. The spikes on April 28 and 30 and on May 5 and 6 all have to do with Barnwell, where there have been, as of yesterday, a total of 117 COVID-19 cases.
