Virtual Meetings of Interest in the Week Ahead

At the end of this week, the NY ON PAUSE executive order expires. What happens next is unknown, but in the meantime, there are lots of virtual meetings to keep us glued to our computers. The week starts out particularly meeting heavy.
  • On Monday, May 11, the Hudson Development Corporation holds a special meeting at 11:00 a.m. The agenda for the meeting has not yet been made available. Click here to join the meeting. The meeting ID is 892 1418 7666; the password is 445459.
  • At 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, Columbia Comeback Committee holds its first meeting. Click here to join the meeting.
  • At 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, the full committee of the HDC Emergency Business Task Force holds its weekly meeting. Click here to join the meeting. The meeting ID is 884 8032 6330; the password is 658221.
  • At 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, the Common Council holds its monthly informal meeting. So far, there is nothing on the agenda except a communication from the Columbia-Greene Democratic Socialists of America in support of the project proposed for 75 North Seventh Street and a resolution reappointing Michael O'Hara and Angelyn Chandler to the Conservation Advisory Council. That situation is likely to change. Access to the audio live stream of the meeting can be found here.
  • On Tuesday, May 12, the Hudson Industrial Development Agency meets at 1:00 p.m. The meeting is to be held on Zoom with YouTube streaming for the public, but so far no information about accessing the meeting has been provided.
  • At 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, the HDC Emergency Cultural Task Force holds its regular weekly meeting. Click here to access the meeting. The meeting ID is 972 7312 5560; the password is 009933.
  • At 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, the Planning Board meeting will be broadcast live on Facebook at Hudson Zoom Meetings. The audio will be live streamed here. The meeting will begin with a continuation of the public hearing on the conditional use permit and site plan applications from A. Colarusso and Son.

  • On Thursday, May 14, the HDC Emergency Hospitality Task Force holds its regular weekly meeting at 3:00 p.m. Click here to join the meeting. The meeting ID is 857 3559 2807; the password is 9175856.
  • Also on Thursday, May 14, the Gratitude Car Parade honoring medical workers takes place. The parade lines up at 6:30 p.m. and begins at 7:00 p.m. If you want to be part of the parade, you are asked to RSVP to info@columbiacountydemocrats.org. The following directions are provided for parade participants: "Make signs. Bring balloons. Wear a mask out of respect for the health care workers. Stay in your car, stay safe, socially distance. The hospital asks that we do not honk horns."

  • On Friday, May 15, the Tourism Board meets at 5:00 p.m. The audio of the meeting will be live streamed here. Questions and comments can be texted to 914 584-5373 or emailed to councilpres@cityofhudson.org.

  1. "So far, there is nothing on the agenda except a communication from the Columbia-Greene Democratic Socialists of America in support of the project proposed for 75 North Seventh Street." Inquiring minds want to know more about endorsement.

  2. Monopoly capital doesn't need your endorsement DSA, it only goes to show how little you care for actual historical materialism, reading more like the Chamber of Commerce, than nascent socialists.

Thirty low-income apartments (no residency requirement necessary) for 40 years of profound municipal fiscal support, when there are already 10M in GalVan holdings wholly-exempt (and how many warehoused units)?

We live in welfare state for the rich, where a financial crisis of generational proportions is answered with tax breaks for billionaires. Has DSA seen GalVan's house? You don't house the poor and live here, sorry.

  3. The fact that an intellectually obtuse organization (see Marston, immediately preceding) supports this patently ill-considered design and proposal speaks volumes about the project's poor conception and the intellectual rot at its core (the industry of poverty). That's all this is: more industrialized poverty to line the pockets of those who suckle on that particular teat at the expense of both the needy and the tax base.
