Another Wine Bar for Hudson

On Friday, June 12, the Historic Preservation Commission approved plans for the restoration of 538 Warren Street, which had for many years been the location of John Anderson's Foxfire Ltd. Antiques.

The restoration involves removing the shingled roof on ground floor to expose the original leaded glass frieze, eliminating the ornamental shutters, re-creating the stoop, and doing away with other vestiges of a mid-20th-century remodeling of the facade.

The Historic Preservation Commission granted the project a certificate of appropriateness, with two contingencies: the original marble thresholds at the two entrances to the building shall be preserved, and the stone sills and lintels of the windows on the second and third floors shall not be painted.

The ground floor of the building is expected to be a wine bar.
