Town by Town Breakdown

This morning, the Columbia County Department of Health provided the breakdown by municipality and nursing home that it typically released on Friday. The numbers were introduced with this caveat: "Some numbers for towns may have changed due to data quality assurance efforts." Some of the numbers are significantly different. The CCDOH is now reporting that there have only ever been 24 cases of COVID-19 in Hudson not the 33 cases reported last week.

In the list below, the first number is the one reported last week, on June 6; the second one is the number the CCDOH is now reporting.

Ancram  7 | 3
Canaan  11 | 9
Chatham  18 | 13
Claverack  9 | 15
Clermont  4 | 6
  Copake  19 | 21
Craryville (previously not listed)  1
Gallatin (previously not listed)  3
Germantown  8 | 1
Ghent  19 | 21
Greenport  13 | 17
Hillsdale  12 | 11
Hudson  33 | 24
Kinderhook  41 | 24
Livingston  8 | 12
    New Lebanon  4 | 8
Niverville (previously not listed)  2
Philmont (previously not listed)  5
Stockport  3 | 4
Stuyvesant  9 | 11
Taghkanic (previously not listed)  6
Valatie (previously not listed)  10
Nursing Homes
Barnwell  142 | 143
Livingston Hills  2 | 2
Pine Haven  38 | 42

This adds up to 414, the total number of cases reported yesterday, June 12. Beyond the statement quoted above about "data quality assurance efforts," there is no explanation was offered by the CCDOH for what appears to have been some significant over-reporting. In the case of Hudson, where the number went from 33 to 24, it is likely that cases in other municipalities within the 12534 zip code were attributed to Hudson. In the case of Kinderhook, which went from 41 to 24, cases in Valatie and Niverville were probably previously attributed to the Town of Kinderhook. The number for Claverack, however, has increased by six, despite Philmont now being listed separately with five cases.
